How to read the meter

Phase correlation reads on a scale from +1 to −1. A reading near +1 means left and right channels are very similar (close to mono-compatible); a reading near −1 means they're close to inverted, which causes serious cancellation and thinning when summed to mono.

Most well-balanced stereo mixes sit somewhere in a positive range, generally above +0.5, without needing to be at a perfect +1, which would mean an essentially mono mix with no real stereo width at all.
