What Is Loopin? The Songwriting App for iOS, Explained

If you make music on your phone, you already know the problem. The beat is in Downloads. The hook is a voice memo. The lyrics are in Notes. Three different demos are buried in three different folders. The Loopin app pulls all of it into one song, so nothing gets lost — and so you can pick up exactly where you left off.

What the Loopin app does

  • Import a beat and build the song around it.
  • Write lyrics over the beat — type in time while the track loops.
  • Record takes right inside the song, instead of scattering them across Voice Memos.
  • Keep every version so you never lose the take you liked.
  • Auto key & BPM detection so you know what you're working with.
  • Share a 15-second teaser straight to your Instagram or WhatsApp story.

Loopin's built-in player

Every song in Loopin opens in a clean player — beat, key, BPM and the stage it's at (Idea → In progress → Done). The Loopin player isn't just for listening back; it's where you write, record and compare versions without ever leaving the song. Think of it as a music player built for works in progress, not a finished library.

Is Loopin for rap, beats and singer-songwriters?

Yes. Loopin is built for bedroom rappers, independent artists and singer-songwriters. Whether you're writing bars over a type beat, sketching a topline, or recording a quick demo, the Loopin music app keeps the beat and the words in the same place. If you came here searching Loopin rap or Loopin beats, this is exactly what it's for.

Loopin also masters your tracks — free

When a song is done, you can polish it with Loopin Mastering, our free in-browser mastering tool. Upload an MP3 or WAV, pick a feel, and download a streaming-ready master at about −14 LUFS with a −1 dBTP true-peak ceiling — all processed on your device, nothing uploaded.

Is Loopin free?

Loopin is free to start on the App Store, with an optional Loopin Pro upgrade. No account is needed to begin. Download Loopin and open the song you've been putting off.

Frequently asked questions

What is Loopin?

Loopin is a songwriting app for iPhone that keeps the beat, the lyrics, the takes and every version of a song in one place. Think of it the way a film editor thinks about a project file: the footage, the audio and the cuts all open together, rather than living in four folders that only make sense to whoever saved them.

Is Loopin free?

Yes, Loopin is free to start on the App Store, and no account is needed to begin. There is an optional Loopin Pro upgrade for the full workspace, sold through Apple as a one-time or yearly purchase.

What does Loopin do that Voice Memos and Notes can't?

It keeps the words and the audio attached to each other. Picture the usual Sunday night: the beat is in Downloads, the hook is a 14-second voice memo called "New Recording 47", and two verses are in a note titled "idk". Each piece is fine on its own and useless apart. In Loopin those are one song, so opening it three weeks later gives you the whole thing instead of a scavenger hunt.

Can I import my own beats?

Yes. Import a beat you bought, leased or produced yourself and build the song around it. Loopin reads the key and BPM automatically, so you know you are writing over an F minor at 142 rather than guessing and finding out in the booth.

Does Loopin keep every take, or overwrite the last one?

Every take is kept as its own version. This matters more than it sounds: most people record take four, decide take two was better, and discover take two was recorded over. Loopin keeps all four side by side so you can play them back against each other and pick the keeper.

Is Loopin only for rappers?

No. Bedroom rappers, independent artists and singer-songwriters all use it, because the job is the same underneath: a backing track, some words, several attempts at singing or rapping them, and one version you decide is finished. Whether that is bars over a type beat or a topline over an acoustic loop makes no difference to the app.

Is there an Android version of Loopin?

Not yet. Loopin itself is an iOS app, though the free web tools are not: Loopin Mastering and the Key and BPM finder both run on any current phone or laptop, Android included.

Do I need to be online to use Loopin?

No. Writing, recording and playing back songs all work without a connection, which is the point on the Tube, on a plane, or in the studio basement where nobody has ever had a bar of signal.

Keep every song in one place.

Import a beat, write the lyrics, record the take — and finish more of the songs you start.
